Competition for wood: Ecological, social and economic effects of the material and energetic utilization of wood
The project analyses the effects of possible shifts between material and thermal use of wood. It examines probable ecological, economic and social impacts as well as possible strategies for the cluster forest and wood in Bavaria to cope with these effects. Existing valuation methods will be enhanced to find solutions for a sustainable production and application of wood amounts during the next 30 years.
The amount of wood is calculated by non-linear programming. The optimization approach considers the wishes of the decision maker by its target function. Further internal and external requirements are included by constraints. Different scenarios are calculated to explore the effects of prize changes for fossil fuels on wood prizes and wood supply.
