Coppice with Standards Assessment
In recent years a number of concepts was developed and discussed on how the management of hardwoods could be optimised. The discussion received new impetus through several articles on the topic that were published around the turn of the millennium. And eventually, it also let to a change in the practical management. Up to now, however, the financial consequences of these new concepts are not fully analysed.
In the project experimental plots are being established in hardwood stands with coppice and standards. On the basis of these plots the financial consequences of a combined production of high value assortments and firewood in short rotations are analysed. The pruning of oak standards is also financially assessed.
