Spatio-temporal dynamics of the CCaMK/CYCLOPS complex.

Plant root symbioses with arbusuclar mycorrhiza fungi and nitrogen-fixing bacteria bear huge potential for sustainable agriculture. Recent results strongly indicate that a main regulatory hub in the developmental decision between the two types of symbiosis development consists of the calcium and calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CCaMK) and a DNA-binding transcriptional activator, CYCLOPS. In this project, we would like to unravel the mechanisms underlying this decision process.
