LORE-mediated immunity in Brassicaceae.

The detection of conserved microbe-associated molecular patterns (MAMPs) by specific host pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs) confers durable resistance to a broad range of pathogens. Therefore, transfer of PRRs between plant species is of major interest for crop improvement. We have shown that bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS) are sensitively perceived in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana by the S-domain receptor-like kinase LORE (LipoOligosaccharide-specific Reduced Elicitation). We now want to examine the mode of activation of LORE and early signalling events upon LPS treatment on the molecular level.
