UGAIN: Kick off Meeting 4-5 December 2017, Freising, Germany

The six partners of the Urban Gardens for the social integration of Migrants (UGAIN) gathered at Freising University near Munich, to meet one another for the first time and discuss how the programme would be managed and work over the next 30 months.

A presentation from each organisation enabled everyone to get a clear understanding of the work they do in their respective countries. The group also looked at the current research available on working with migrants in community managed gardens and the role they can play  for social integration, as a place to empower people and improved self-confidence.

There was also discussion around the timeline for the UGAIN project, the most important priorities to tackle and how the project will be managed, monitored and evaluated over the next 30 months.

The meeting ended with a discussion on how the partners will disseminate information about the programme and an agreement to meet again in June in Santander, Spain.
