All cells within a multicellular organism are polarized to fulfill their function and to connect to their neighbors. Cell polarization is achieved by polar signaling and protein localization and is necessary for the correct growth and differentiation of every cell. This is especially important during double fertilization in plants, where many different polar cells types come in contact with each other.
We use fluorescence microscopy and cell biological methods to understand polar signaling protein localization during double fertilization.
